Crystal's StorySite

The search page accepts parameters from a user and performs a search of StorySite's stories by
category, keyword, age, rating, file size, date posted, and/or specific text.
The search engine will then return links to stories that match all selected fields.

More simply put, tell us what you want, and we'll point you to it.

Enter your query : This will search the text of all stories for the information that you've entered. For example, if you enter 'Virginia', you'll get a listing of all stories that contain the word 'Virginia'. It's a very powerful search function, which means that you can perform 'and/or' searches and much more.

Use this link to get a more detailed explanation of this parameter's capability.  More information.

Story Title and/or Author : This will search the Story Title and/or Author Name for whatever is entered. For example, if you can only remember that a story's title contained the word 'Prom', you can enter that and get every story with that in the title.

Where file size is : Stories where the text size is 'greater than' or' less than' the size you specify.

You can select a value from the pull down menu, or, select 'Other' and enter a different size in the open box.

Modified : Stories posted on or after the date that you select in the pull down.

You can search for stories in the last xx days or month in the pull down menu or select since and enter a specific date (yy/mm/dd).

Please note : If the 'multi-part' check box below is checked, you won't get any story parts where the original was posted before the selected dates.

On this date : Stories posted specifically on the date that you select in the pull down boxes. This parameter uses GMT, so a story posted after 7 or 8 p.m. Eastern Standard time, will appear with the next day's date.

Please note : If the 'multi-part' check box below is checked, you won't get any story parts where the original was posted before this date.

Rating : Stories that match the rating selected. No other ranges are possible.
Age : Stories that match the protagonist's age group. No other ranges are possible.
Check this box to show just part one of multi-part stories. This will help reduce the results from multi-part stories. For example, for a 30 part story, you'll only get a link to part 1 if this box is checked, instead of having all 30 parts listed. But, the specific item that you're searching for may not be in the story's first part.

A few extra notes -

Keywords and Categories : check as many boxes as you wish. The search will look for stories that match all checked boxes, so increasing the number of boxes checked, narrows the search..

If you did a text search, there will be two links in the results  :

Summary will give you the search text, highlighted in red, plus the line preceding and following it.

Full will display the full text with the search text highlighted in red. There will also be a link next to the highlighted text to take you to the next occurrence. The full text is presented as one long character string and the lack of formatting makes reading the story less enjoyable then if you click on the story title.
