Kelly Girl

Chapter IV
"How the Other Half"
Andie opened the door and stuck her head inside. "Kelly, you little shcamp, what are you up to?"
Kelly didn't know whether to feel relief or a new wave of terror. Andie was Barbie's friend, Harold Mann's sister and the aunt of Peter and Richard, she was the one that had got Barbie the date with her brother and ultimately the one that had gotten Kelly into his current fix.
Andrea Mann in heels easily topped six feet. Statuesque, with dark blonde hair streaked in pastel colors nearly to her waist, her makeup was always perfect because she had it tattooed on, eyeliner, lip color, eyebrows and blush. Her waist seemed tiny because her hips and bust were so large. Sometimes she wore corsets to emphasize her shape and she nearly always wore miniskirts or shorts to show off her long legs. A flower tattoo on her left breast peeked out of her low-cut blouse, rings of roses encircled her right wrist and left ankle.
The longer you looked at her and the more of her you saw, the more tattoos you noticed; a unicorn on her shoulder, a kitty cat above her right ankle, more encircling flowers around her left ring finger, something that looked like a snake or dragon on her inner thigh glimpsed when she moved.
She wore six or seven earrings in each ear, some of them long and dangling. Two little chains looped from her ear across her left cheek, one to a ring in the nostril, the other to a ring through her eyebrow. Two more rings dangled from the right nostril. A ring and a stud through her tongue contributed to a slight lisp when she spoke. She'd always had the lisp which most people thought had been caused by the piercings. She did not stop at jewelry that pierced her hide but also wore plenty of bracelets, rings, necklaces and a jeweled belt.
The whole effect achieved a sort of beautiful excess perhaps only because Andie herself, underneath it all was a strikingly gorgeous person. She seemed entirely too bizarre for Orange County. Hollywood or Venice Beach seemed more her style but she had a beauty salon cum tattoo parlor in Costa Mesa where she served as her own advertisement.
"Come in," said Kelly, giggling with embarrassment and excitement.
Andie strode over to the bed, jewelry jingling. "Pete and Richard were telling me about Barbie's shister or niece, they weren't too clear. Took me awhile to realize they were talking about you. How'd they get the idea you were a girl? Although, you do look cute in that bathing suit." She grinned widely.
"I don't know how they got the idea, from their Dad, I guess. But I couldn't convince them I was a boy without pulling down my pants so I went along with the gag and it sort of got out of hand," Kelly explained sheepishly. "Can you believe this room?"
Andie nodded, "Oh, yeah. Ekshess is sort of a Mann family trademark. Your hair is getting a bit long and with it like that you do look short of like a junior version of Barbie." She laughed. "Well, you may have hit the jackpot, Harry has always wanted a daughter."
Kelly blushed. "I'm not going to be a daughter for him, that's for sure. I don't have the equipment."
"What do you mean? Look at all this shtuff! You got everything you need." Andie grinned.
Kelly glared at her. "You know what I mean, I'm a boy!"
"Oh, that! That's just plumbing, Harry's a plastic shurgeon, he can fix that." She laughed.
"Don't! Don't joke about *that*, Andie! Good grief."
Andie laughed again and sat on the bed, reaching out to ruffle Kelly's hair. "You should have let me cut this a week or two ago."
"Um," Kelly squirmed. "We didn't have the money? What am I going to do, Andie? I wish Barbie were here."
"Well, she'll probably call sometime tonight --"
Kelly interrupted, "Not Barbie, she always forgets to call unless I remind her just before she leaves. And I didn't, so she won't."
"I was going to say, if she doesn't, Harold will. He likes to keep a thumb on the boys and me. But what's the harm in pretending to be a girl for a weekend? Haven't you ever wondered how the other half lives?"
Kelly rolled his eyes. "Not really, I see how Barbie lives, low-paying jobs, boyfriends who treat her like dirt." He paused, a little uncomfortable because of Andie's michievous grin.
She laughed. "I meant the rich half! You could live like an American princess off of Harold Mann. I know I did, after our folksh died, I came to live with Harold when I was about your age. Him and his first wife, the boys were shmall. Harry wasn't nearly as rich then as he is now but he was on his way. Spoiled me rotten, shtill does. You think that shop supports me the way I live? Harry pays my rent there and in my apartment he pays the utilities, too. Plus my car is really his, he lets me drive it and pays the inshurance.
"And if I want to go on vacation to Vegas or Aspen or Hawaii or something, I can usually get him to shpring for the tickets. Harry's a soft touch and a shucker for a pretty girl who knows how to feed his ego. Barbie's going to have him wrapped around her little finger. Or maybe her ring finger, if she wants it."
Kelly sorted out the meaning from the buzzing lisp of Andie's speech. He shook his head. "Marry him? What? What brought that into the story? She's not going to marry him. She's had plenty of chances to get married."
"Yesh, but to shomeone so rich? Kelly, Harry sometimes does shix or eight breasht augmentations a day, at two to five thousand dollars each, half of that just for him. When business here getsh shlow, he flies to Vegas where he has another clinic or down to Tijuana where he has a shex change factory."
"A sex change factory?" Kelly shivered, frightened, titillated and appalled. "Did he go to Vegas to work? On the weekend?"
"Nah, he likes to gamble and shee the shows, too. A lot of the girls up there have bodies by Mann, though; he's considered the Michelangelo of showgirl looks. He told me he might shtay over Monday and do some work."
"He's good at it, huh?"
"The besht. A regular Dr. Pygmalion."
Kelly tried to picture Harold Mann playing the Rex Harrison part in My Fair Lady, complete with the big doctor's Oklahoma accent, or whatever it was. The rayen in Spayen fahlls mayenly in the playen.
He stifled a giggle then told Andie, "Your brother promised Barbie a free boob job if she went with him this weekend and five thousand dollars, too." Kelly fell silent, the grin fading. He still felt guilty about his part in the arrangement.
Andie looked thoughtful. "I'm sure he didn't think about what that made her. It's jusht his way of *getting* his way, he owns all the carrots so he likes to wave them around."
"Yeah, well, I'm the one he actually talked to on the phone." He imitated Barbie's voice again, "Harold, I *can't* just give up $300 dollars in tips to go to *Vegas* with you."
Andie laughed so hard spit flew out of her mouth. "You're *good.* Harry told me yeshterday that he just loves that baby doll voice of hers," she laughed even harder, holding a hand over her mouth this time. "That was right after he talked on the phone with what must have been *you*. Oh, God, that's rich. You little shexpot."
"Andie!" Kelly blushed fiercely.
"Oh, go ahead," urged Andie. "Maybe you've got a big future as a female impersonator." She laughed again, eyes and accessories twinkling.
"Andie, help me out," he protested. "I'm not sure how to get out of this without a lot of embarrassment."
"The only way you're going to do that is to keep up the mashquerade as long as Barbie is seeing Harold and hope no one gives you away. The only ones who could that Harry is likely to meet are Barbie and me and I'm not going to." She grinned. "Even if you beg me. It's tyoo good a joke on Harry and the boys."
"You.... Andie! That is not a solution! No. No," he shook his head. He glared at her and she grinned even wider. "Feels like the joke is on me," he said glaring at her. Another yawn caught him by surprise.
"Well, tell you what, you get some shleep, you look totally *fagged* out." Kelly glared at her harder but she went on, smiling. "I'll talk to Harold and Barbie when they call and make sure nothing *queers* the deal."
"Andie!" he protested. He waved feebly at her, the excitement of the day catching up to him again. An even bigger yawn caised him to make funny noises.
Andie gave him a quick hug and a peck on the cheek before standing up. "Let's just find you some nice jammies, you weren't swimming in the ocean were you?" she started looking through a drawer in the Little Mermaid-decorated highboy.
"No, it was a pool." She's looking through a drawer full of girl's clothes, he thought vaguely.
"Good, then you can just change clothes and go right to bed, take a bath tomorrow. Here, isn't thish just tyoo cute?" She held up a pair of ruffled pajamas, white, decorated with pink hearts and candy canes.
"They're too something," Kelly agreed, too tired and sleepy to protest as much as he wished he could. On another level, somewhere, the whole thing seemed unreal.
"It's thish or a nightgown," said Andie. She helped him out of the bed and handed him the pajamas.
He trudged toward the bathroom. She handed him something else. "Put on shome underwear, too." Panties. He stared at them then at her.
She waved him toward the bathroom door again, "Go on, shoo!"
He sighed. The problem for Kelly had become that Andie as the adult was telling him to do something that he also realized he didn't have much choice about. His clothes had more or less disappeared. And the pajamas were better than wearing a nightgown. Maybe. Barely. But the panties?
Resigned to wearing the pajamas, at least, Kelly trudged off to the bathroom. Andie stopped him one more time to kiss him on top of the head. "You are jusht so *cute*," she said.
"Great. I'm short and cute." And too tired to argue, he decided.
The bathroom had everything, a tub with glass doors for a shower stall. Shampoo and soap, towels and washcloths. A Daisy Duck hair dryer hanging on a hook. A big pink fluffy robe much like the one he had walked off from the pool party wearing. Nearly everything was pink with accents of lavender and sea-foam green. The girliness of it woke him up a little, he rubbed his face and wondered if he needed to get vaccinated against all this cute.
"I'll be back in the morning," Andie called from the hall doorway. "We'll have a girls' day out."
"'Kay." Kelly agreed sleepily. He discovered that even the toothpaste was pink as well as a supply of brand new, top of the line toothbrushes. Sighing, he brushed his teeth, washed his face and feet, brushed his hair and put on the clothes Andie had handed him. "What's the point of pajamas that don't cover your legs and arms," he grumbled. Looking in the mirror was a jolt, though. The little girl there did not seem to have anything to do with him.
Even more tired now, he felt it difficult to really care how he looked, so he stumbled off to the over-large, overly feminine bed, pushing aside dolls and stuffed animals to make a place for himself.
He fell asleep quickly and eventually dreamed of Richard Mann offering him a pink car if he would do something Richard wanted.
A kiss? Kelly squirmed and made a face.
"Just a kiss," agreed the dream Richard.
Well, why not? It wouldn't turn him into a girl to kiss a boy, or to dream about kissing a boy, would it?
Or had that already happened?
He stirred a bit, disturbed by the question. Sleepily he realized that Barbie was not home yet. No, wait, she was on a date with the doctor. Doctor Mann would give her a new car if she would just kiss him.
Am I dreaming? I'm not at home, he told himself. Where am I? But before he could figure that out, he fell back into sleep.
*****
"Aren't you going to give me a ride in your new car, Kelly Girl?" asked the dream Richard.
"I don't have a license yet," said dream Kelly. And the real Kelly giggled in his sleep.
Just as he had earlier in the waking world, Dream Richard smiled and said, "I'll wait."
